Introduction
Traditional Gua Sha dates back thousands of years: Ling Shu, one of the earliest existing Chinese Medicine texts states that,
"all illness is the result of separation from the spirit....the superior practitioner helps guide the patient to rediscover this connection."
The unique techniques I will be applying were developed by Ziggie Bergman who first learned them in Japan in 1992. She also studied under Arya Nelson & other experts in the field around the world.
What is Gua Sha?
Pronounced "gwa sha", it describes the process of scraping the skin to bring the blood flow to the surface. However, unlike the traditional Chinese Medicine practice of Gua Sha which can be quite vigorous, in this Facial Gua Sha treatment much gentler & soothing techniques are employed to rub the skin with soft gliding motions to improve microcirculation beneath the skin's surface, encouraging toxins to come out & aiding lymphatic drainage as well as nourishing the skin right down to cellular level.

What happens in a Facial Gua Sha treatment?
You are invited to sit back and relax in my zero gravity chair fully clothed, although it is advisable to wear a vest top so I am able to work on your neck, shoulders & décolletage (or low neckline) area. You will have blankets and pillows to make yourself comfortable & then I will apply some lovely hot towels & wonderfully indulgent, natural oils to both your face and neck area before the actual treatment commences. You decide if you would like a full hour or you can extend the session by half hour intervals to prolong the relaxation and therapeutic effects further.
Important to bear in mind
Check your face creams, gels and make-up and avoid using any products containing retinol, vitamin C or cortisone 24hrs prior to treatment.
